Welcome to the London School of Journalism

The LSJ has been teaching news journalism and freelance journalism for three generations, and continues to lead the way in the development of teaching methods which produce successful results for all of our students.

Students attend courses at our premises in Maida Vale. 15 minutes' walk (or two tube stops) from Paddington Station, which is at the heart of London's public transport system. The canals of Little Venice are a few minutes' walk from the School, as are the cafes, bars and restaurants for which Little Venice is well known.

The nearest tube stations are:   Maida Vale or Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo)
Royal Oak or Westbourne Park ( Hammersmith & City)
Mainline Station:   Paddington

The School buildings, situated in a private courtyard, were originally a pair of Victorian mews houses, and were completely refurbished in November 2003. Group lecture rooms seat between 20 and 30 in comfort, and tutorial rooms, large enough for 8 students, are used for small group sessions.

The computer room is available to students throughout the day (and most evenings) for the preparation of their work, researching via the internet - or just checking email. Each computer has MSWord and QuarkXpress installed with unrestricted internet access. The School can provide webmail accounts (yourname@lsjmail.net) to those who wish it. We provide specialist QuarkXpress training during the postgraduate courses, and can teach up to 24 students at the same time.

The School computer network may be accessed by WiFi - any student who wishes to bring their own WiFi equipped laptop is welcome to do so.

The courtyard provides 'cafe' style space for coffee and conversation - and the occassional tutorial when the weather is suitable! Coffee and cold drinks are available at all times, without charge.

If none of our courses is what you are looking for, consider our Summer School programme - information is here. If you can't find here what you are looking for, or if you have any questions at all about our courses, please contact us and we will try and provide the answers.

We look forward to welcoming you on one of our courses.
