Creative Writing : Short Course (3 days full-time)

A course that covers the main techniques of writing utilising a blend of workshops, class discussion and teaching. Aimed at novice/intermediate writers of fiction, the techniques and practices discussed will be common to both short story and novel writing.

Day 1:

Getting going/Telling the story

Icebreakers, discussion of writing aims and how the course works. Writing practice, showing not telling.
Day 2:

Characterisation/Plot

Revealing your character, dialogue and style, plot creation and analysis.
Day 3:

Point of view/Beginnings & endings/The 'real' world

What is a 'point of view'?, changing it, endings and their principles. Agents and Publishers, submitting your work.
