Writing for Women's Magazines:

Short Course (3 days full-time)

A course for those interested in writing specifically for women's magazines. Do you think you can write about relationships, dieting and eating disorders, conventional and alternative health, fitness, fashion, beauty, interiors, lifestyle, real lives, children and families.

This intensive course will give you an understanding of how the women's magazine market works and provide you with the tools to write for magazines and newspapers.

Day 1:

You and Them

Tailor who you are to what editors want: turning your experiences and interests into journalistic material.
Figuring out what is wanted: analysing markets.
Day 2:

Putting a Piece Together

Research, structure, the rewrite.
Interviewing: dealing with real people and celebrities.
Day 3:

Selling Yourself and Your Ideas

Getting started: covering letters, cv, approaching editors. Selling ideas: groundwork, presentation, commission to byline, building a career.

Books: Freelance and Feature Writing (London School of Journalism). (cost included in course fees)
